When to go
The park and its campground are open year-round, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
Spring and fall are the better seasons for wildlife viewing and more comfortable hiking.
Summer is serious desert heat — the park advises skipping strenuous activity from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and starting early.
Always read
current conditions
for trail closures (Johnson Canyon is closed March 15–September 14 except ranger-guided hikes) and weather.
Getting there
St. George, on I-15 in southwestern Utah, is the usual gateway.
Snow Canyon State Park sits just northwest of the city in the Ivins area
(the park lists 398 Snow Canyon Drive, Ivins).
You can enter from either end of Snow Canyon Drive; a day-use fee applies even if you only drive through.
The visitor center is inside the campground, about two miles from either entrance.

Sample days
Half day
Arrive near opening. Walk Jenny’s Canyon and Pioneer Names (both short and easier), then add Petrified Dunes only if everyone still has water and the rock isn’t too hot. Leave time to exit before the park’s 10 p.m. day-use close — and much earlier in summer.
Full day
Start with Lava Flow or Whiterocks while it is cooler, picnic, then a short trail or the paved Whiptail path. If you reach the park in the hot afternoon, follow the park’s own advice: scenic drive and picnic instead of a long exposed hike.
Add a Zion day
Zion National Park is a separate trip, not the focus of this site. Keep it on its own day. Deeper Zion planning will live on zioncanyontours.com (coming).

Camping vs. a place to stay
The park has a 38-site campground open year-round (no backcountry camping).
Reservations are recommended in busy seasons: online at
stateparks.utah.gov
from 48 hours up to 4 months ahead, or 1-800-322-3770.
Inside 48 hours is walk-up only. Site fees are on the
fees page
(non-hookup and partial-hookup rates are listed there — confirm before you book).
Town stays — later
Hotel and vacation-rental booking (Booking.com, Expedia, and similar) is a later phase. There is no stays widget and no affiliate stay link on this site yet.
